The 2024 Halloween costume photoshoot of our daughter, dressed as the character Eleven (season 4) from the Netflix series Stranger Things. Together as a family we watched the entire series and over the summer we binged on the latest season. When we saw the episode that took place at a roller rink we knew we had to do her photoshoot at Skate Country. Especially since we grew up at the rink. Luck would have it, they were hosting a trunk or treat skate a week out and where you could wear your costume. It was perfect timing!

This is the ninth year Nova has dressed up (sadly Covid meant we skipped a year) and for the tenth we hope to go all out and do a family theme, which may or may not be the conclusion of these extravagant photoshoots. If you would have asked us when she was little that we would be doing this year after year, we would have said “yeah right, heck no!” But we witnessed very early on that our daughter was always very theatrical and creative… and somehow this has become our little family tradition. We are of course obsessed with it. Looking back at all of the past costumes, the specific locations and personality filled portraits gets us teary-eyed. What a beautiful, exhausting, yet rewarding journey.

Our goal is to create a beautiful linen heirloom album showcasing this passion and hand it down to her when she’s older. The she can show to her own family! Ok… back to crying!!
