Featured on KGUN 9 news, this natural light studio motherhood portrait session was-hands down-one of the most memorable collaborations of 2024. It was a celebration of motherhood, entrepreneurship and friendship. One that reminded everyone present about the power of love, teamwork and why celebrating together is so powerful.

There will never be the perfect time to have your portrait taken, where it will all fall into place. Sometimes you just have to be spontaneous and trust the creative process. This natural light studio motherhood portrait session was planned in just a matter of days. Not something we are known for, although a seasoned photographer has the ability to pivot when needed.

We were approached by a local news journalist, Jacqueline, who walked into our studio over the summer. She loved learning that we are a full service photography studio and the client wardrobe instantly caught her eye.

When Jacqueline received a tour of our studio space and an explanation of why we offer neutral-colored clothing (for portrait longevity) for moms and children, she asked “Do most photographers do this?” I replied “It’s definitely rare, especially one that is sustainable focused and curated.” She immediately said “Let me pitch this story to my editor!”

Flash forward to early this fall when the interview was quickly scheduled and in motion.

You may recognize our past client, Kimberly Neal, who has been photographed numerous times with her boys and she just happened to be available on this morning with her sweet baby girl. It was perfect because baby K was sitting up on her own and crawling (two of my favorite milestones to document). These are when we have the opportunity to capture those intimate snuggly and curious moments. Every mother (and photographer) appreciates this precious stage before little ones are super mobile and more independent.

We were able to film a few clips of me photographing in my element, a testimonial from Kimmie and additional b-roll of our heirloom products. I also knew that this feature would not be possible without the expertise of hair and makeup stylist Stormi Yates. We have worked together for years; her modern, photo-ready styling is paired perfectly with our simple vision. Everything came together so seamlessly that we will never forget this experience, we were all eager to see the feature on KGUN 9.
